One-day courses at Grosvenor Museum, Chester

Saturday 24th March : Latin for Beginners

Spend a day exploring classical Latin, with insights into the writers' lives, and hear their work read aloud. See how the language works and discover Latin words behind so many English ones, all in a day.

Saturday 21st April : Romans in Britain: a tale of two queens

This course looks at the early years of the Roman occupation of Britain, leading up to the explosive rebellion of the Iceni tribe. The Romans were astonished to find women ruling tribes. Boudicca is the best known, whose turbulent time in power lasted only a few months, while her contemporary Cartimandua ruled the largest tribe in Britain and survived years of conflict - including from her husband.
